Cuba Reaffirms Its Right to Build an Independent and Socialist Future at ALBA-TCP Summit

The Cuban President Miguel Diaz Canel at the Bolivarian Alliance for the Peoples of Our America – Treaty on Trade of the Peoples (ALBA-TCP) XXIV Summit, expressed Cuba’s “determination to defend their sovereign right to build a socialist, independent and free future of foreign interference.”

“We thanks to all present governments and peoples here represented by their leaders, the demand to end the US blockade on Cuba” and also thanked the Cuban head of state the recent signs of support and solidarity after the hurricanes hit Cuba earlier months.

During his speech, Diaz Canel stated that the will to see ALBA advance allowed the alliance to consolidate itself in an inclusive integration process to face common dangers, for the well-being, prosperity and development of peoples.

In the regard, the Cuban president said ALBA-TCP is also a space for the struggle for the interests of the dispossessed, the voice of the voiceless, the articulated voice of the brothers in history and the struggle against imperialism and regional oligarchies.

About the recent decision of the United States government to keep Cuba in the List of countries that sponsor terrorism, Diaz Canel said his country is not a terrorist country, and “it must be removed from this unilateral list, which has an impact on the economy”.

“The international community widely recognizes that Cuba is not a terrorist country, Cuba must be removed without further delay from this one-sided list misstatement, a fallacy that has an efficient impact on the economy,” said the Cuban president.

On the other hand, Diaz Canel said to the ALBA-TCP member countries will have in Cuba a country that I supported in the right to fair treatment when facing challenges.
